Michigan State welcomes new president

Michigan State University today welcomed its 21st president, Samuel L. Stanley Jr., M.D. Stanley was unanimously selected May 28 by the MSU Board of Trustees after a nationwide search. He most recently served as the fifth president of Stony Brook University, another leading research university, since July 1, 2009. Known as a respected researcher, leader and educator, Stanley looks to build on MSU’s land-grant mission of delivering the promise of opportunity to its students and producing groundbreaking, life-changing research.
