“The spirit, energy, and culture of Detroit are second to none. There is an entrepreneurial renaissance happening in Detroit and I feel fortunate to be part of the movement that is bringing back our city.”

In 2016, after stints in Chicago and NYC, Andrew Landau returned to Detroit to launch Jewel, a luxury e-commerce loyalty site based out of Grand Circus in Detroit. Jewel partners with luxury and premium brands to help them sell their products to cost conscious customers. Jewel allows luxury retailers to maintain their brand image while reaching aspirational customers. They have partnered with over 350 luxury brands in fashion, health and beauty, home and travel. Landau sees Jewel as a great opportunity for customers to save money from the brands they love and for luxury retailers to expand their customer base.

“Just because a customer spends a lot of money, it doesn’t mean they don’t want a good deal.”

Landau was born and raised in Detroit. He spent four years at Google before co-founding Chalkfly with his brother, Ryan, a Detroit e-commerce startup backed by Detroit Venture Partners. Chalkfly was sold in 2014. After Chalkfly was acquired, Landau joined Jet, where he was the head of business development for New York Based, Jet.com. Jet was sold to Walmart in 2016.

Along with Andrew’s entrepreneurial endeavors, he’s also actively engaged with the local Detroit community. He’s on the Executive Committee of Tamarack Camps and continues to be an active member of the Jewish Federation.

Jewel is rapidly growing its customer base, brand partners and internal team, and looks forward to building upon the continued momentum of Detroit.
